Smeg ECF01 Espresso Machine

Beautiful espresso machine in 1950s style

Like several other Smeg products, the Smeg ECF01 is designed in a nice retro style, reminiscent of an American diner in the 1950s.

The model is available in several colours, which complement the style, and the design itself is with round shapes and strong materials.

The anti-slip feet further ensure high stability.

Smeg ECF01 is equipped with a water tank of 1 litre, and it is also possible to get skim milk.

This means that in addition to espresso, you can also get a cup of latte or cappuccino.

With a pressure of 15 bar, you are also sure to get the best crema in the espresso.

Besides, this machine comes with a user-friendly operation with a clear control panel, and then there is both anti-drip function and cup heater function.

One can further brew two cups of espresso simultaneously, and a cleaning indicator tells the consumer when it is time for cleaning.

Beautiful appearance and robust building

For example, I have to emphasize that this is a robust machine made of good materials and its really nice to look at in the vintage style.

I believe that this coffee maker is most suitable for the consumer who prefers espresso, but you can also get coffee with milk, such as cappuccino and so on.

The quality of the espresso is really high when you look at the price point,

Taste is very well balanced and with good aroma.

Also, I gotta give praise for being very quiet in use, and then it warms up really quickly.

I only have a few criticisms and point out that there are some problems with the movement, and then there is a lack of a hot water function.

Efficient machine

Smeg ECF01 is very easy to use and really fun to experiment with – however, it is not completely cheap.

Naturally, you have to mention the incredibly eye-catching vintage design.

The price is somewhat high, but on the other hand, the model is very user-friendly and gives good milk froth – even if the milk frother is a bit dirty.

Smeg DCFO1 Coffee Machine

Smeg DCFO1

Smeg DCFO1 is not an espresso machine but a fairly ordinary coffee machine that brews filter coffee.

I have looked into aspects such as coffee brewing, ease of use, features and usability.

My conclusion is that it is a good and well-functioning coffee machine.

Traditional coffee machine in vintage design

The Smeg DCFO1 is a traditional coffee machine, but it still comes in the same beautiful, vintage design as the Smeg espresso machines.

The model is equipped with round shapes and is like taken from a movie from 1950s America.

There are several colours to choose from to complete the design, and especially the pastels further contribute to the whole.

This is a model with a traditional glass jug inserted into the product, and there is a simple operation with only a few buttons on the front.

Easy operation

The Smeg DCFO1 is easy to use and comes with an easily accessible control panel with four main buttons. There is also a digital LED display that helps you navigate.

Here is also a smart degree of adjustment in relation to the water’s hardness, and then it is possible to brew both a whole and a half jug.

Smeg DCFO1 also comes with a smart keep-warm function, which can keep the coffee warm for 20 minutes as well as an option to choose how strong the aroma should be.

In addition, there is an anti-drip valve, which keeps the machine clean, and an alarm that tells you when to descale.

Incredibly beautiful design

Considering that this model is clearly beautiful in terms of design, I need to mention that it is beautiful in its 1950s style.

It comes in six different colours, which match several of the other Smeg products.

However, I have more roses than just about the look, as the machine is, on top of the amazing design, actually straightforward to use.

The keep-warm function, which actually manages to keep the coffee warm for 20 minutes, also deserve praise, and it is smart that you do not have to brew a whole jug if you only need a few cups.

However, there are some disadvantages, such as I am missing a milk frother and the opportunity to choose from several types of coffee.

Pre… Summery

So, you might be looking at this article, because you are in doubt which one of these 2 coffee makers you should buy.

The answer is simple.

If you are looking for a normal drip-coffee machine, buy the last model, and if you are interested in Espresso, you should buy the first model I wrote about.

Truly it’s that simple.

They are both decent coffee machines, but they are different, so it’s really that simple.

Now, however…

If you have a slightly higher budget, I personally will choose to look at the next option, because you receive the best of both worlds.

Alternative options..

Breville Barista Touch Espresso machine

Sage Barista Touch

The Breville Barista Touch is another very popular espresso machine that has been tested by yours truly, as I use this machine on my office, and absolutely love it.

I have looked more closely at both quality, ease of use, functions, and manageability in my tests, and I can say I am delighted with the machine.

Precise machine with many functions

Breville Barista Touch (Or Sage, as it’s known outside the USA) is one of the highly functional espresso machines designed to bring the barista feel into the home.

This espresso machine comes with, among other things, a PID control, which controls the water temperature, as well as an integrated coffee grinder, which comes with as many as 18 settings.

The machine is also equipped with a milk frother system, so you can get both espresso and coffee with milk, and you control the machine on an intuitive touch screen.

The most aromatic experience is also ensured, as the beans are first ground when they are to be used.

In addition, there is also a memory function, indicators for both lime and cleaning as well as a cleaning program on the model.

Fast and user-friendly

Breville Barista Touch is a very fast machine, which is also user-friendly – it is easy to use the screen and adjust its coffee.

You get a clear barista feeling when you are using this machine.

I always have a huge smile on my face when making an espresso on this machine.

Absolutely love it!

I have to comment that there is a lot of aroma in the coffee taste – It is a good choice if you want to influence the coffee yourself.

Easy to brew your coffee

If I have to mention a few particular features I really love, I would like to mention how easy it is to make a cup of personalized coffee on this model.

It’s smart that you can help to influence the coffee so much, and then it’s done very easily – everyone can actually take part.

However, this is a somewhat expensive machine.

The milk frother works really well, and the coffee just tastes great.

There is ample opportunity to be able to experiment, and you will 100% love this espresso machine if you decide to invest in something you will keep forever..

Yes, it’s expensive, but you will never destroy it, and you will enjoy it for the next 20 years.

If you are ready to invest in something that will outlive you, as the quality is truly just that good, you should look no further than this machine.

I cannot give it high praise enough.

You can order it on Amazon today, and make your first cup of coffee tomorrow 🙂

You can order right here.

Buying Guide:

Keep this in mind when buying an espresso machine

Ease of use:

Some machines are easy to use, while others are more advanced.

This also depends on how much you yourself want to be able to tailor the coffee.

Feel free to go for an intuitive display.

Equipment:

It can be advantageous to acquire an espresso machine with both a coffee grinder and a milk frother if you want to have all the remedies in one product.

Otherwise, you will buy them separately.

Cleaning:

Feel free to go for an espresso machine with a cleaning program.

Then you are sure to keep the machine hygienic.

Features:

The more features, the more expensive the machine is also often. Consider what you need.

Some come with memory function, cup warmer, special profiles, cleaning programs, descaling programs and functions where you can influence temperature and intensity.

Price:

It is possible to get good espresso machines that do not cost that much.

The advanced ones often cost thousands of dollar.

Since you can not test in advance how good a machine is.

Size:

Several of the large models take up a lot of space.

If you do not have much space, you can consider a compact machine.

Type:

Some espresso machines are manual, while others are semi- or fully automatic.

The fully automatic ones can brew the coffee themselves with just a few presses, while the semi-automatic ones themselves have to be responsible for part of the brewing.

If you want to play barista, you should choose a model where you can influence the result yourself.
